About

Yooz

(Company Registration Number SC361441)

YoozTreeLogo Yooz is a groundbreaking Reuse & Recycling project for building materials, the first of its kind in Scotland... the Yooz project started in the summer of 2009 and we have already diverted over 1,000 tonnes from going to landfill in our first 18 months
We are a social enterprise that provide an environmentally and socially responsible way to keep good, reusable materials out of the waste stream. We aim to use all profits from selling on these materials to help our charity (Active4All) fund and build a brand new £10million Scottish Sporting Centre of Excellence for disabled people.

We collect surplus / unwanted materials from Construction companies, Civil Engineers, Local Councils as well as the general public. In addition we also offer collection / clearance services for Office and House contents at a low cost.

We aim to ReUse the vast majority of items that we collect, with the remainder being Recycled.

100% of our stock is comprised of donated materials.   More information >

Active4All Logo - Nov 2010

Active4All is the parent charity of Yooz. It is a Scottish Charity, and a Company Limited by Guarantee where any and all profits will be re-invested, with the objectives of providing community and sports activities to people of all ages and abilities, in an environment of respect and friendliness.

Our main vision is to raise funds to build the first ever custom-built state of the art sports and activity centre of excellence for both disabled and able bodied individuals in the UK.

So far supporters of the centre already include Michael Kerr, a past member of the GB Wheelchair Rugby Team and the Centre for Excellence's first patron, and 9000 local people canvassed by Active4All.

Ian Strachan, one of the Directors of Active4All explains:
'After recently becoming disabled myself, it quickly became apparent to me that there was a severe lack of sporting facillities available for those with disabilities in my area. More worryingly, when I conducted further research, I was shocked to discover how basic and limited the facilities on offer are to disabled people throughout the whole UK.'

'While there are many sports and activity centres that have been adapted for use by disabled people, so far there are little to no facilities which offer a wide range of activities or original custom designed facilities for disabled people.'
