All profits made at Yooz are reinvested into our charity, Active4All. This Scottish charity aims to enhance employability and social integration with a focus on helping those who are disengaged or disadvantaged.
The charity was started in 2005 by three keen believers that everyone should have the opportunity to try out different activities to find what skills and strengths they have and how to build on these. Recognising that sports facilities in Lanarkshire were both poor in quality and dismal in accessibility, initially Active4All aimed to raise funds to build a state-of-the-art sports centre, inclusive for all.
The charity started by working in partnership with others to develop new resources which would extend community facilities and improve people’s welfare and self-esteem. Early projects included the establishment of senior and junior basketball clubs and an innovative scheme, Waists, which developed the reuse of waste tyres as low cost exercise equipment.
The skills gained from Waists were used to develop a project to recover building materials which otherwise would be sent to landfill. This project grew quickly to become the exciting social enterprise, Yooz.
