Working with East Dunbartonshire Council, we have been able to divert from landfill and find a reuse for a number of pieces of unwanted office furniture.
The latest e-news bulletin released by CRNS (Community Resources Network Scotland), celebrates this success...
Yooz, who operates a building materials recycling project, has stepped in to give East Dunbartonshire Council a helping hand with unwanted furniture from building closures.
East Dunbartonshire Council has added a green lining to the literal and metaphorical clouds surrounding building closures and demolitions, by finding new homes for unwanted furniture. In the Council's latest venture, hundreds of office items have been given a new lease of life. Through channels such as Freecycle, the Chamber of Commerce and Yooz, many grateful takers were found. Approximately 200 large items, and further hundreds of smaller ones, have been diverted from landfill, to the benefit of various parties. The innovative project featured as one of 19 Local Authority case study posters which were on display during the recent Sustainable Scotland Network Conference. See their poster.
